Themis Badas

Communications Ambassador / in charge of Family photographs / House biographer

I was born and raised in Agrinio, a city located in Western Greece. At the age of 18 I moved to Athens, where I studied Photography & Journalism at the Technological Institute of Athens. During my studies, I spent 6 months in Brussels-Belgium, as an Erasmus student, where I experienced a different lifestyle but also a different educational and cultural environment. This experience at the age of 22, has changed my view of things in a way that actually changed me as a person. Or better expressed, it “updated” me. In Athens, I have worked as a Photographer in Fashion and Media, but also as a Journalist in several magazines. A few years ago, I graduated my Master’s degree in Arts & Culture Management, from Rome Business School. I have been working as a musician manager for a guitar quartet in Salzburg and as a PR manager for a painter in Athens. Recently, I have moved to Santorini where I work as a Guest relation/Social Media Manager. Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, and definitely the place with the best sunrise. With a background in photography this seems ideal for my eyes and my camera. But most important, the people and life in Santorini is what makes it feel the right spot for me.

Why I am at Villa ilias

Villa Ilias in Santorini is a place where I can communicate with people from around the world, share ideas and help them make the most of their visit and have the best memories from their stay. My goal is for the customers to have the same feeling as I do in Villa Ilias. Feeling like home!

Interests

My interests combine art in most of its forms (playing guitar, photography, painting, writing, sculpting) but also sports (huge basketball fan, hiking, football, boxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu). The ideal day for me would be a hike through a colorful canyon during the summer, with the company of dear friends.

Activities

I enjoy travelling and interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds. My favorite parts of the world (so far...) is Rome, Florence, Salzburg, Oxford, Bruges, Zurich, London, Paris, and of course Santorini! An Art Lover and a Nature Lover! That says all…

Music, Movies and books

I have a strong respect and love for the wisdom that books provide, with favorite writers Baruch Spinoza, Irvin Yalom, Homer, Plato, Pedro Juan Gutierez etc. I could not live without music, and my favorite artists are Vicente Amigo, Paco de Lucia, J.S. Bach, Mozart, SRV, John Lee Hooker, Guns n Roses, etc. Good movies are always a good company! My favorite movies are, The Pianist, The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Inception, Shutter Island, The Godfather, The Last of The Mohicans, and pretty much every Roman Polanski movie!

One amazing thing I've done

One of the things I’ve experienced that felt amazing was riding a bicycle for about 10kms through a beautiful road that was full of blossomed trees aside. That was a route just outside Salzburg. Another one…,keeping myself solid through the years!

Talking wisdom

Two of my favorite mottos in life: “Never leave for tomorrow what you can do today” ...and...”call no man happy until he dies” (μηδένα προ του τέλους μακάριζε..)
